Paducah, Kentucky – A rainy weekend is forecast with up to 1.5 inches of rainfall possible along the I-24 corridor by Sunday evening.
According to the National Weather Service in Paducah, near to slightly above normal temperatures and dry weather will persist through the mid to late week period before a wetter pattern develops this weekend.
High temperatures Wednesday and Thursday are expected to range from 44 to 56 degrees, with overnight lows dipping into the upper 20s to mid-30s. Friday will remain mild, with highs between 51 and 59 degrees across western Kentucky, southern Illinois, southeast Missouri, and southwest Indiana.
Rain is expected to move into the region Saturday and continue into Sunday. Current projections indicate total rainfall amounts between 0.5 and 1.5 inches, with locally higher totals possible depending on storm track and rainfall intensity.
Drivers along Interstate 24 through Paducah, Interstate 55 near Cape Girardeau, Interstate 69 toward Evansville, and U.S. Route 51 near Carbondale should prepare for wet pavement and reduced visibility during periods of steady rain.
While widespread flooding is not currently forecast, heavier rainfall could lead to ponding in low-lying areas and minor drainage issues.
Temperatures this weekend will remain mild, with highs generally in the low to upper 50s.
Commuters, weekend travelers, and outdoor event planners should monitor forecast updates as rainfall timing and totals are refined.
