Winnipeg, MB – A 39-year-old Winnipeg man was violently assaulted in a carjacking early Sunday near Sherbrook Street and Ross Avenue, suffering the effects of bear spray. Police say the incident occurred around 2:06 a.m. while the victim waited for a friend. The attacker approached the driver’s side of the vehicle, forced the door open, and discharged bear spray into the man’s face, pulling him from the car along with his dog.
According to Winnipeg Police Service, the carjacker fled with the victim’s vehicle, running over the man as he made his escape. Paramedics arrived at the scene to treat the victim for minor injuries, including exposure to bear spray, before releasing him.
