Calumet County, WI – A driver was recently stopped for traveling 107 mph in a 55 mph zone on County Trunk Highway PP north of Brillion, according to the Calumet County Sheriff’s Office. The driver received a six-point citation and must appear in court.

In Wisconsin, traveling more than 25 mph over the posted limit in a 55 mph zone can lead to a driver’s license suspension, the sheriff’s office noted in its Wednesday post.

According to deputies, speeding continues to be a serious issue in Calumet County. So far this year, the agency has documented 76 speed-related crashes, resulting in 24 injuries and one fatality.

“Every mph over the limit cuts your reaction time and extends your stopping distance,” the sheriff’s office said. “The few minutes you think you’ll ‘save’ aren’t worth the life-changing consequences.”

Authorities are reminding motorists to slow down, leave earlier, and stay off their phones to help prevent future crashes.
