Eureka, CA – A Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect for Northern Trinity from 11 a.m. Wednesday through 11 a.m. Thursday, as snow and strong winds are expected to impact higher elevations.

According to the National Weather Service in Eureka, snowfall is forecasted above 4,000 feet, with total accumulations between 3 and 5 inches. Winds could gust as high as 50 mph, creating hazardous travel conditions and the potential for downed tree branches.

The affected area includes Northern Trinity, particularly along Highway 3 near Scott Mountain. Motorists are urged to use caution, as travel may become difficult due to snow-covered roads and reduced visibility.

Residents and travelers should prepare for winter driving conditions by carrying chains, reducing speed, and allowing extra travel time. The high winds may also cause sporadic power outages, so keeping emergency supplies on hand is recommended.

The advisory remains in effect until 11 a.m. Thursday, at which point conditions are expected to improve. For the latest road conditions, travelers can dial 511 or visit the California Department of Transportation website.
