San Diego, CA – A winter storm watch remains in effect for the San Bernardino County Mountains, with heavy snow and strong winds expected from Saturday evening through Tuesday morning.
According to the National Weather Service, snow accumulations could range from 2 to 4 inches at lower elevations (3,500-4,500 feet) to over 2 feet above 8,000 feet, particularly near Mt. Baldy. Gusty southwest winds reaching 45 to 55 mph, with isolated gusts up to 65 mph, are also predicted, potentially causing widespread damage to trees and power lines.
Road conditions are expected to become treacherous, especially on bridges and overpasses. The hazardous weather could make travel very difficult to impossible, particularly during the Monday morning and evening commutes.
Officials recommend delaying travel if possible. Those venturing out should carry a winter storm kit with essentials such as tire chains, flashlights, blankets, and emergency supplies.
Residents are urged to monitor weather updates and prepare for power outages and road closures as the storm intensifies over the weekend.
