Los Angeles, California – Drivers along the Interstate 5 Grapevine and Highway 14 corridor could face snow-covered roads and near-whiteout conditions starting Tuesday evening.

According to the National Weather Service in Los Angeles/Oxnard, a Winter Storm Watch remains in effect from Tuesday evening through Thursday morning for the Western San Gabriel Mountains, Antelope Valley foothills, Interstate 5 Corridor, and the interior mountains of Ventura and Santa Barbara counties. Snow totals of 1 to 4 inches are possible between 3,500 and 4,500 feet, including portions of the Grapevine. Above 4,500 feet, 6 to 12 inches could accumulate. Wind gusts may reach 50 mph.

Tejon Pass, Gorman, Pyramid Lake and the Highway 14 corridor near Acton, Pearblossom and Palmdale face the highest risk for hazardous travel Wednesday morning. Blowing snow could drop visibility below one-quarter mile at times, especially across exposed ridgelines.

Higher peaks in the Santa Barbara County Interior Mountains and Ventura County Mountains could see the greatest accumulations, increasing the chance of chain controls or temporary closures.

Travelers should monitor conditions closely and prepare for rapid changes in visibility and road conditions. Additional updates or warnings are likely as confidence in snowfall amounts increases before Tuesday night.
