Weaverville, CA – A winter storm warning is in effect for Northern Trinity County from 1 a.m. to 2 p.m. PST on Friday, bringing heavy snowfall and hazardous travel conditions to the region.

According to the National Weather Service, Highway 3 between Weaverville and Trinity Center is expected to see 5 to 8 inches of snow, with over a foot possible at Scott Mountain Pass. Lower elevations, including Buckhorn Summit and Oregon Mountain, could receive 2 to 5 inches, while Weaverville may see brief periods of heavy, wet snow early Friday morning.

The storm is expected to create dangerous road conditions, especially on bridges and overpasses. Officials urge residents to delay travel if possible. Those who must drive should carry emergency supplies, allow extra time, and use extreme caution, particularly on hills and curves.

The California Department of Transportation advises checking road conditions by dialing 511 before heading out. Motorists should expect rapidly changing visibility and slick surfaces.

Snowfall will taper off by Friday afternoon, but lingering icy patches could continue to impact travel.
