Hanford, CA – A winter storm is set to bring heavy snowfall and hazardous conditions to portions of central California, including Yosemite National Park, Kings Canyon, and Sequoia National Park, from early Wednesday morning through Thursday afternoon.

According to the National Weather Service in Hanford, a Winter Storm Warning will be in effect from 4 a.m. Wednesday until 4 p.m. Thursday. Snow accumulations between 6 and 13 inches are expected in higher elevations, with wind gusts reaching up to 45 mph. Affected areas include Tuolumne Meadows, Grant Grove, Shaver Lake, Lake Wishon, and Cedar Grove.

Travel could become extremely difficult or even impossible, especially during peak commute hours on Wednesday. Roads, bridges, and overpasses are likely to become slick and hazardous. Strong winds may also lead to fallen tree branches, increasing risks for motorists.

Officials urge residents and visitors to delay travel if possible. Those who must travel should prepare by carrying an emergency kit with food, water, and a flashlight. Drivers are advised to maintain extra distance between vehicles and be prepared for sudden drops in visibility.

For updated road conditions, travelers can call 511 or check local transportation websites. The public is encouraged to stay informed and take necessary precautions as the storm moves through the region.
