Los Angeles, CA – A winter storm warning remains in effect for the mountains of Los Angeles, Ventura, and Santa Barbara counties until 5 a.m. PDT Saturday, with up to 6 inches of additional snow expected and wind gusts reaching 50 mph.
According to the National Weather Service in Los Angeles, the storm will create hazardous travel conditions through Friday, impacting both the Thursday evening and Friday morning commutes. Snowfall will make roads slippery, and strong winds could bring down tree branches, increasing the risk of power outages.
Affected areas include Acton, Pearblossom, Llano, Rose Valley, Mount Baldy, Gorman, and Wrightwood, as well as key routes such as Interstate 5 through Tejon Pass and the Angeles Crest Highway. Travelers are advised to prepare for reduced visibility and delays in these mountain corridors.
A second, weaker system is expected to move in Friday night, bringing lighter snowfall but continuing to create travel hazards. Officials recommend that those traveling through impacted areas carry emergency supplies, including flashlights, food, and water.
For up-to-date road conditions, motorists are encouraged to call 511 or check local transportation alerts before departing. Winter driving precautions are essential as this storm system moves through Southern California.
