Mojave, California – Drivers along the Mojave Desert Slopes should prepare for dangerous wind gusts reaching 50 mph starting late Thursday, with conditions expected to persist through 11 p.m. Friday.
According to the National Weather Service in Hanford, a Wind Advisory remains in effect from 5 p.m. Thursday until late Friday night. Sustained west winds of 20 to 30 mph are forecast, with peak gusts potentially disrupting travel and damaging property.
High-profile vehicles on highways including State Routes 14, 58, and 178, as well as U.S. Route 395, may be especially at risk. Blowing debris, downed tree limbs, and minor power outages are possible across the Mojave area.
Residents should secure outdoor items and avoid unnecessary travel during peak wind periods. Drivers of large vehicles should use extra caution, especially in open desert stretches prone to sudden gusts.
Winds are expected to gradually weaken by late Friday night, but further advisories could be issued if conditions worsen.
