Sacramento, CA – Sacramento residents should prepare for soaring summer temperatures this week as highs climb toward 98°F by Saturday, with intense sun and dry air blanketing the region. Health officials urge people to stay cool, especially between noon and 5 p.m., when the risk of heat exhaustion is highest.

According to the National Weather Service, the Sacramento Valley will see temperatures steadily rise beginning Thursday, June 26, with a high of 92°F and calm winds turning southwest by afternoon. Friday’s high hits 97°F, followed by a near-peak of 98°F on Saturday. Nights will offer little relief, with lows sticking in the mid-60s through the weekend.

The heat surge affects much of Northern California, especially along the I-5 corridor and into suburbs like Elk Grove and Davis. Outdoor workers, children, and the elderly are especially vulnerable. Residents are advised to limit midday exposure, drink plenty of water, and check on neighbors without reliable cooling.

With humidity staying low and winds generally light, fire danger is also a concern in outlying dry grasslands. Though no Red Flag Warnings have been issued yet, conditions will be monitored closely.

The prolonged heat pattern holds through early next week. No rain is expected through the end of June.

⚠️ Next Update: Heat advisories may be issued by Friday if trends continue. Monitor updates from the National Weather Service.
