SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. – The Bay wakes under a soft morning haze, lights shimmering off calm water as mild air drifts inland from the Pacific. It’s the kind of peaceful early November start that masks the next weather change creeping in from the ocean.
According to the National Weather Service in Monterey, clear skies and near-perfect autumn warmth continue through Monday, with highs in the upper 60s to low 70s across San Francisco, Oakland, and San Mateo. Winds stay light under a shallow ridge, giving residents a few more days of dry, comfortable air for travel, festivals, or coastal hikes. But forecasters warn that pattern is shifting—an onshore push will thicken clouds late Monday night, bringing the first chance of light rain by Tuesday.
Beach hazards also remain in effect through early Tuesday, with elevated surf and stronger rip currents from a decaying northwest swell. The NWS urges caution near coastal jetties and beaches, especially for small craft and beachgoers from Pacifica south toward Santa Cruz.
While rainfall totals look minor, the return of wet pavement after a long dry stretch could make Bay Area commutes slower Tuesday and Wednesday. After that, models hint at a second, slightly stronger system arriving late week—potentially the first true taste of November’s wetter rhythm.
For now, residents can expect two more picture-perfect days of warmth before the familiar gray and drizzle return to the Golden Gate.
