San Francisco, Calif. – A sunny and mild stretch will carry San Francisco through the weekend before the first round of rain in weeks arrives late Sunday into Monday. Temperatures will hover in the low to mid-70s during the day, with mostly clear nights dipping into the upper 50s.

According to the National Weather Service, a weak Pacific system will slide toward the Bay Area late Sunday night, bringing a 20 percent chance of showers after 11 p.m. Rain chances increase into Monday, when scattered showers and possible thunderstorms are expected across San Francisco and neighboring counties. Winds will also pick up, with gusts near 20 mph on Saturday and higher gusts Sunday night.

Sunny skies Friday and Saturday will make for good outdoor conditions, though breezy winds may impact coastal areas and bridges. The San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency is urging drivers to use caution in windy conditions and prepare for slower commutes early next week when rain arrives.

Residents are advised to check drains and gutters ahead of Monday’s rainfall and allow extra travel time during the morning commute. The unsettled weather pattern could linger into midweek with additional shower chances through Wednesday.
