San Francisco, CA – Gusty northeast winds are expected to develop tonight across the Bay Area, creating hazardous conditions for travelers and residents. The strongest winds will affect higher elevations, including the East Bay Hills, North Bay Mountains, and the Santa Cruz Mountains.
According to the National Weather Service, wind gusts could reach 35-45 mph in Napa County and up to 35 mph in other elevated areas. Gusts of 25-35 mph are anticipated in valleys and the Central Coast, where impacts will be less severe. The advisory begins late tonight and continues into Monday evening.
Residents are urged to secure loose items, avoid outdoor burning, and use caution when operating high-profile vehicles. Power outages may occur in areas experiencing the strongest gusts. If driving through mountain passes or open roadways such as Interstate 80 or State Route 128, exercise extra caution as winds may sway vehicles and reduce visibility.
Monday will otherwise remain clear and sunny, with temperatures reaching a high near 64°F in San Francisco. The calmer weather is expected to continue through Tuesday, though cooler nights will bring lows into the mid-40s.
Looking ahead, there is a slight chance of rain returning late Wednesday night and continuing into Thursday. Temperatures midweek will range from the low 60s during the day to mid-40s at night.
Stay updated with the latest alerts by monitoring local weather stations. Officials recommend residents prepare for potential wind-related impacts by securing property and planning safe travel routes.
