San Francisco, CA – As the Bay Area enters a rainy stretch, residents should brace for challenging travel conditions and high surf along the coast. Rain is forecast to begin early Wednesday and continue through Friday, potentially impacting commutes and outdoor activities. A high surf advisory is in effect for Tuesday night, with waves potentially creating hazardous conditions along California’s coastal areas.

According to the National Weather Service, some areas in the Bay Area received significant rainfall on Monday, with locations such as Mount Tamalpais recording over an inch of rain in just 24 hours. Another round of rain is expected Wednesday, bringing patchy fog and periods of heavy rain that may reduce visibility on major roadways, including U.S. 101 and I-280. Commuters are advised to use caution, allow extra time, and watch for slick surfaces on roads and highways.

Wednesday’s forecast shows an 80% chance of rain during the day, with the heaviest downpours expected in the afternoon. Winds may reach up to 16 mph, making it important for drivers to watch for fallen branches or other debris. Rain is likely to continue into the night, with a low near 49°F and light winds. For Thursday, forecasters predict a 50% chance of rain, with some clearing in the afternoon, though fog may linger in coastal areas. Friday looks drier, with a partly sunny forecast and a high of 60°F, but showers could return Friday night.

Residents in the Bay Area are encouraged to monitor local forecasts, especially if planning any travel along the coastline. Waves are expected to subside after Tuesday, but conditions could still be dangerous for swimmers and surfers through the end of the week.

Stay tuned to the National Weather Service for updates on the rain’s progression and surf conditions, and remember to use caution during any commute on rain-slicked roads.
