San Francisco, California – Interior parts of the Bay Area are set to swelter through Sunday as a persistent warming trend pushes daytime highs into the mid to upper 90s, raising health concerns in heat-sensitive areas.
According to the National Weather Service in San Francisco, a Moderate HeatRisk is in effect from Wednesday through the weekend for the East Bay and southern Santa Clara Valley. This level of heat can impact vulnerable populations, especially those without air conditioning or reliable access to water. Health systems and industries reliant on outdoor labor may also experience strain.
Communities including Concord, Livermore, San Jose, and Morgan Hill are expected to see the highest temperatures. Nighttime lows in the mid-60s may offer little relief, especially for those in urban areas where heat lingers.
Residents are urged to stay hydrated, check on elderly neighbors, and avoid outdoor activities during peak afternoon hours. NWS also reminds parents to check the backseat for children and pets, as vehicle interiors can quickly become dangerous.
This heat event is expected to ease by early next week, but advisories may be extended if the pattern holds.
