San Francisco, California – After peaking in the 80s and 90s on Wednesday, temperatures across the San Francisco Bay Area will cool significantly by Friday, with highs dropping 10 to 20 degrees in many cities.

According to the National Weather Service San Francisco Bay Area, inland cities like Livermore, San Jose, and Santa Rosa could see highs above 85°F on Wednesday and Thursday before a cooler marine layer moves in. By Friday, those same areas are expected to top out in the low to mid-70s, with some coastal spots dipping into the 60s.

The drop in temperatures will be especially noticeable in places like King City and Santa Rosa, where Thursday highs in the 90s give way to 70s by Saturday. Oakland, San Francisco, and Half Moon Bay will see milder swings, remaining in the upper 60s to low 70s most of the week.

Residents are advised to stay hydrated during the warmer midweek stretch and limit outdoor activity during peak afternoon heat. Those with travel plans should prepare for fluctuating temperatures, especially moving inland to coastal zones.

More typical late-May temperatures are expected to return for Memorial Day weekend. The NWS will issue updates as marine influences shift through the region.
