SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. – The Bay Area’s classic fall pattern is back—fog early, sunshine later, and a warming trend by week’s end. After a cloudy and cool midweek, sunshine will surge across the region Friday through the weekend, bringing near-perfect outdoor conditions.

According to the National Weather Service in Monterey, light showers and fog early Wednesday will give way to mostly sunny skies by afternoon. Temperatures will climb steadily through Thursday, topping out in the low to mid-70s by Friday across San Francisco, Oakland, and the Peninsula. Winds will stay light, mainly from the west, keeping coastal areas comfortable while allowing inland valleys to warm into the upper 70s.

Travelers along Highway 101 and I-280 can expect clear, dry driving conditions late week, with visibility improving after fog clears by midmorning. Residents are encouraged to plan outdoor errands, events, and travel for the weekend, as no rain is expected and humidity remains low.

Saturday and Sunday will deliver ideal fall weather across the Bay Area—sunny skies, crisp mornings, and mild afternoons perfect for leaf-viewing, coastal hikes, or pumpkin patch visits. Light winds will keep beaches pleasant and reduce wildfire concerns across the North Bay hills.

Forecasters expect the dry, warm pattern to hold into early next week, keeping conditions stable for late-October outdoor activities. The stretch from Friday through Sunday will likely be some of the most comfortable and scenic fall days yet this season.
