SACRAMENTO, Calif. – After a soggy start to the week, drier and warmer conditions are set to return across the Sacramento Valley by midweek. Intermittent showers overnight and Tuesday will give way to sunshine and rising temperatures starting Wednesday afternoon.
According to the National Weather Service in Sacramento, scattered rain will persist through Tuesday evening, with rainfall amounts ranging from a quarter to a half inch in most areas. Light east-to-southeast winds will accompany the rain, and morning commuters should prepare for wet roads and slower travel on I-5, Highway 50, and I-80.
Showers will taper by early Wednesday as a ridge of high pressure builds over Northern California. Skies will clear rapidly, and highs will climb from the upper 50s Tuesday to near 70 degrees by Friday. The warmup will continue into the weekend, with sunny afternoons and lows in the upper 40s to low 50s providing a comfortable stretch of fall weather.
Air quality and visibility are expected to improve with the midweek clearing, a welcome break for outdoor workers and commuters after the damp start. According to forecasters, no additional rain is expected through at least early next week, giving local growers a window to resume harvest operations and outdoor maintenance.
