Los Angeles, CA – Strong winds are sweeping through Southern California Wednesday, with gusts expected to reach up to 40 mph across Los Angeles and surrounding areas.
According to the National Weather Service Los Angeles/Oxnard office, a wind advisory is in effect until 10 p.m. Wednesday for much of the region, including coastal and inland zones of Los Angeles, Ventura, and Santa Barbara counties. Impacted cities include Santa Monica, Malibu, Long Beach, Ventura, Oxnard, and Hollywood.
Winds from the west are expected to range between 20 and 30 mph, with gusts peaking around 40 mph in exposed areas. The advisory also affects mountain recreation zones and island regions, such as the Catalina and Santa Barbara Islands.
Officials warn that unsecured objects may be blown around and tree limbs could come down, potentially causing isolated power outages. Drivers of high-profile vehicles should use caution, especially on highways like the 101 and Pacific Coast Highway.
Residents are advised to secure outdoor items, avoid unnecessary travel in high wind areas, and remain alert for possible falling debris.
Winds are expected to ease later tonight, with calmer and sunny conditions returning by Thursday morning.
