Hanford, CA – A winter weather advisory remains in effect for portions of central California, including Yosemite National Park, from 10 a.m. Saturday until 4 p.m. Monday.
The National Weather Service (NWS) predicts snow accumulations of up to 6 inches in lower elevations, with amounts reaching 12 inches above 8,000 feet. Affected areas include popular destinations such as Yosemite Valley, Sequoia National Park, Shaver Lake, and Kings Canyon National Park.
According to the NWS, the snow is expected to make roads, bridges, and overpasses slick and hazardous. Travel could become challenging, with some roads potentially impassable. Motorists are advised to slow down, exercise caution, and check the latest road conditions by dialing 511.
The advisory includes cities like Oakhurst, Grant Grove, and Fish Camp, as well as recreational areas such as Bass Lake, Huntington Lake, and Florence Lake. Travelers heading to these locations should prepare for wintry weather and allow extra time for their journey.
Residents and visitors should monitor updates and avoid unnecessary travel in affected areas. Snow chains may be required for vehicles in higher elevations, and emergency kits are recommended for those traveling through the region.
