Dry pavement glows under early sunlight, and the air already feels mild across Southern California. Jackets come off quickly this morning as warmth settles in and refuses to leave. While much of the country deals with winter danger, Los Angeles is moving in the opposite direction, with heat becoming the headline.

According to the National Weather Service, temperatures across Los Angeles County are climbing steadily through midweek, with highs rising from the upper 70s Monday into the mid and upper 80s by Tuesday and Wednesday. Skies stay mostly sunny, winds remain light, and no precipitation is expected through at least Thursday.

This warming trend stretches across much of Southern California, including East L.A., Pasadena, and the San Fernando Valley, where afternoon heat may feel more like late spring than early February. Downtown Los Angeles starts the week near 77 degrees Monday, jumps into the mid-80s Tuesday, and pushes close to 90 degrees by Wednesday. Overnight lows stay mild, hovering in the mid-50s.

Drivers should expect dry roads and excellent visibility, though the sharp temperature swing may increase fatigue during afternoon commutes. Hydration matters more than usual for February, especially for outdoor workers and students. To be fair, mornings still feel cool, but the sun warms things fast by midday.

Nationally, the contrast is striking. Bitter cold, snow, and ice continue impacting the Midwest and East Coast, with dangerous conditions reported along major corridors. That pattern highlights how unusual this West Coast warmth feels.

Looking ahead, the heat eases slightly late week, but dry conditions persist into Saturday. Any meaningful cooldown remains uncertain for now.
