Sacramento, CA – Frost clings to lawns across Sacramento this morning, and breath hangs in the still air. The temperature sits at 34 degrees at Sacramento Executive Airport, with colder pockets dipping into the upper 20s north of downtown.

Ice crystals coat windshields and exposed plants.

According to the National Weather Service in Sacramento, a Freeze Warning and Cold Weather Advisory remain in effect until 9 a.m. Sub-freezing temperatures between 20 and 32 degrees are expected across the Sacramento Valley, coldest in the northern valley communities including Red Bluff and Chico.

Frostbite can occur on exposed skin with prolonged exposure.

Drivers along I-5 and Highway 99 should watch for slick spots on bridges and shaded ramps during the morning commute. Calm winds and clear skies allowed temperatures to fall quickly before sunrise.

Conditions improve by late morning. Sunshine pushes highs near 51 degrees today, with frost ending after 9 a.m. Patchy frost could redevelop late tonight as lows dip near 35 degrees.

Saturday warms significantly, with highs climbing to 57 degrees under mostly sunny skies. By Sunday, temperatures surge to 63 degrees with only a 20 percent chance of light rain. That warming trend continues into Monday, with highs again near 63 degrees before steadier rain chances arrive Monday night into Tuesday.

Plan now to protect sensitive plants this morning. Bring pets indoors and check on vulnerable neighbors.

Beyond early-week showers, longer-range guidance points to above-normal temperatures building into the region in the 6–10 day outlook. Spring warmth may take hold across interior Northern California.
