California wakes up to slick pavement, rushing runoff, and active flood alerts across Los Angeles County this morning. Heavy rain continues to pound parts of the basin, and debris flow remains a real threat near recent burn scars. Drivers near the San Gabriel foothills face standing water and sudden mud in low spots right now.

According to the National Weather Service in Los Angeles/Oxnard, a Flood Advisory remains in effect until 5 a.m. PST for much of Los Angeles County, while a Flash Flood Warning continues for the Eaton burn scar area until 3:15 a.m. Radar estimates show 0.3 to 0.9 inches of rain has already fallen, with rainfall rates between 0.50 and 1.00 inch per hour at times.

Pasadena, Monrovia, Arcadia and Mount Wilson sit in the higher-risk zone for debris flows. Mud, rock and vegetation could rush into canyons including Santa Anita, Hastings and Bailey. Roads near Sierra Madre Boulevard and canyon routes may close with little notice. Turn around if you encounter water across the roadway. Even shallow flooding can stall a vehicle.

Across California, lower elevations see steady rain while the Sierra piles up heavy snow. Travel through mountain passes remains slow and chain controls are possible. Conditions gradually improve later today, but additional showers redevelop Friday as another system approaches ahead of Valentine’s Day Weekend.

Temperatures rebound into the 60s and low 70s by Friday and Saturday in Los Angeles. Looking into early next week and the 6–10 day outlook, above-average warmth spreads across much of the West and central U.S., signaling a milder February stretch.

Five Day Outlook for Los Angeles, CA:
Today: High near 63, rain ending late morning, partial clearing.
Thursday: Partly sunny, high 67.
Friday: Sunny, high 72.
Saturday: Partly sunny, high 70.
Sunday: Mostly cloudy, rain possible late, high 64.
