California’s Central Valley wakes up inside a gray blur, with headlights vanishing into thick fog along farm roads and major highways. Moist air clings to fields and canals, and visibility drops fast in pockets, turning routine drives into slow crawls.
According to the National Weather Service in Hanford, a Dense Fog Advisory remains in effect until noon across the San Joaquin Valley and nearby Sierra foothills. Visibility has fallen below 200 feet at times, with near-zero conditions reported early. The advisory includes Hanford, Visalia, Fresno, Bakersfield, Merced, and surrounding communities.
High-impact corridors are affected this morning, including Interstate 5, Highway 99, and State Routes 41, 43, 46, 58, 99, and 198. Drivers may encounter sudden whiteout fog, especially near open farmland and low-lying areas. Slower speeds, headlights, and extra following distance are essential through the morning hours.
Fog lingers into late morning, then gradually thins as clouds lift. Afternoon conditions improve, with highs reaching the mid-50s and calmer travel expected by early afternoon. Tonight brings another round of patchy dense fog, especially after sunset.
Thursday starts with fog again, clearing late morning. Temperatures climb near 60, offering a milder feel by afternoon. Friday and Saturday look more stable, with partly sunny skies and highs in the upper 50s. Nights stay cool, allowing fog to redevelop in typical valley spots.
Looking ahead, the 6–10 day outlook points to near-normal temperatures for Central California, with limited precipitation chances and continued fog-prone nights under calm conditions.
