California – Tree branches sway sharply across the Sacramento Valley this morning as a brisk south wind pushes through neighborhoods near downtown. Trash cans rattle along curbs, and loose debris skips across side streets as temperatures sit near 37 degrees.

A Wind Advisory remains in effect until 10 p.m. tonight for Sacramento and much of the central Valley. Sustained south winds of 15 to 25 mph are expected, with gusts between 35 and 45 mph. Stronger gusts may develop at times, especially later today into tonight.

Driving high-profile vehicles along I-5, Highway 99, and I-80 could become tricky. Sudden crosswinds may shove vehicles sideways, particularly on open stretches and elevated ramps. Secure outdoor furniture and check for loose items before heading out.

Rain chances increase later today, mainly after mid-afternoon, with highs near 48. Showers become more likely tonight and into Thursday morning. Winds continue to gust as rain moves in, raising the risk of isolated power outages from downed limbs.

Thursday stays wet, with rain likely and highs near 47. Gusty conditions gradually ease late in the day. By Friday, skies turn mostly sunny with highs near 49 and calmer winds.

The weekend trends milder. Saturday brings a slight chance of rain and a high near 54. Sunday turns wetter again with highs pushing the upper 50s. Early next week looks unsettled but warmer, with highs nearing 59 by Monday and Tuesday.

While Sacramento avoids winter snow, mountain areas of Northern California continue to see heavy Sierra snow. Valley residents will mainly battle wind and rain.

The 6- to 10-day outlook favors above-normal temperatures, signaling building spring warmth across inland Northern California.

Five-Day Outlook for Sacramento, California:
Today: High 48, windy with afternoon rain chance.
Thursday: High 47, rain likely.
Friday: High 49, mostly sunny.
Saturday: High 54, slight rain chance.
Sunday: High 58, rain likely.
