Hanford, California – California’s Central Valley is set to heat up fast this week as Hanford sees a sunny streak pushing temperatures to nearly 90°F by Thursday, with breezy winds midweek raising fire concerns across dry grasslands and farmland.
According to the National Weather Service in Hanford, temperatures will climb from the mid-70s Tuesday to a high near 88°F on Thursday. Light to moderate northwest winds are expected each afternoon, with gusts up to 20 mph on Wednesday that could pose elevated fire risks in open areas, especially along Highway 198 west of town.
Tuesday brings calm conditions with a high near 73°F under sunny skies, followed by slightly warmer and gustier weather on Wednesday. Wednesday night stays mostly clear, with lows near 55°F and northwesterly breezes continuing. Outdoor burning is discouraged due to drying fuels and persistent wind.
By Thursday, heat intensifies. Hanford and nearby communities including Lemoore and Armona should brace for 88°F daytime highs, a clear sign that summer is closing in fast. Residents should hydrate, limit outdoor work during peak hours, and monitor local alerts for any Red Flag Warnings.
