Hanford, California – California’s Central Valley is set to bake under a multi-day stretch of triple-digit heat, with Hanford temperatures reaching 102°F by Sunday afternoon.

According to the National Weather Service in Hanford, a summer weather alert remains in effect as a high-pressure ridge locks in dry, sunny conditions across the San Joaquin Valley. Thursday’s high will hit 98°F, followed by 99°F Friday and climbing to 101°F Saturday. Sunday will mark the hottest day yet, peaking at 102°F. Winds will stay light, offering little relief.

By late Thursday, cooling will be minimal with overnight lows hovering in the mid-60s. Daytime heat will continue to accumulate, increasing risks for heat illness, especially for outdoor workers and vulnerable groups. Residents are urged to limit sun exposure between 11 a.m. and 5 p.m., hydrate regularly, and avoid strenuous outdoor activity during peak heat hours.

Utility providers may see higher demand. Hanford-area households are encouraged to pre-cool homes in the morning and avoid running major appliances in the afternoon to reduce grid strain. On-road drivers along Highway 198 should be mindful of vehicle overheating and tire pressure fluctuations in extreme heat.

While no excessive heat warning has been issued yet, a heat advisory remains possible if temperatures continue to trend upward into early next week.
