Sacramento, California – Dangerous summer heat continues to grip Sacramento and much of Northern California as triple-digit temperatures hold strong through Saturday night, with minimal relief expected into June.
According to the National Weather Service in Sacramento, a Heat Advisory remains in effect until 11 p.m. Saturday, with highs soaring between 99°F and 107°F across the Sacramento Valley and surrounding foothills. Cities like Chico, Redding, Modesto, and Red Bluff are all facing elevated risks of heat-related illnesses, especially along busy corridors such as I-5 and Highway 99.
The advisory covers more than a dozen counties, including Shasta, Butte, Sacramento, Yuba, and Stanislaus. Residents are urged to stay hydrated, avoid direct sun exposure, and never leave children or pets in parked cars—where interior temps can become lethal in minutes.
While Sunday (June 1) will see slightly cooler highs near 102°F in Sacramento, temperatures will remain well above average through midweek. Monday and Tuesday will stay sunny with highs in the 90s, with gusts up to 22 mph Sunday night potentially raising wildfire concerns. Waterways, despite the heat, remain cold and fast-moving, posing drowning risks for those seeking relief in rivers or lakes.
Five-Day Outlook (June 1–5):
- Sunday: 102°F and sunny
- Monday: 91°F, calmer winds
- Tuesday: 90°F, breezy and dry
- Wednesday: 93°F, continued heat
- Thursday: 93°F, no rain in sight
