Sacramento, California – Expect a picture-perfect Memorial Day in Sacramento—but brace yourself, because summer heat is about to take over the Central Valley.
According to the National Weather Service in Sacramento, Monday will be sunny with a high near 83°F, followed by steadily climbing temperatures through midweek. By Tuesday, the city is expected to hit 90°F, with Thursday reaching 93°F and Friday pushing a sweltering 100°F.
Daytime heat could create hazardous conditions, especially on major corridors like I-5 and Highway 50. Drivers should keep extra water in their vehicles and avoid peak-hour travel when possible. High temperatures and dry conditions increase the risk of heat-related illnesses and fire danger across the region.
Monday night will stay mild, with lows around 56°F, giving little overnight relief. From Tuesday onward, winds will shift southwest and remain light, reducing cooling breezes that might otherwise help residents beat the heat. Wednesday and Thursday will remain mostly clear with highs near 89°F and 93°F respectively. Friday will bring the hottest day of the week, with the mercury reaching triple digits before dipping only to the mid-60s at night.
As summer arrives early, stay indoors during peak heat hours, check on vulnerable neighbors, and hydrate frequently. Cooling centers may open later this week if conditions worsen.
Warnings remain in effect as temperatures spike. The next update will come Tuesday if heat advisories are issued.
