Cold spray rides the wind along the Embarcadero, and waves crash louder than usual before sunrise. Water creeps toward low-lying roads as tide levels rise, turning the morning commute into a careful exercise near the shoreline.

California remains under a Weather Alert along the San Francisco Bay and Central Coast as coastal flooding and beach hazards continue into the morning and early week. According to the National Weather Service, a Coastal Flood Advisory remains in effect until midday, while a Beach Hazards Statement extends through Monday morning.

High surf is driving breaking waves between 14 and 19 feet, increasing the risk of sneaker waves and powerful rip currents. Forecasters warn that up to 1.3 feet of inundation is possible in vulnerable shoreline areas, especially near bays, marinas, and tidal waterways.

San Francisco, Daly City, and Pacifica face the highest impacts, with water covering parts of parking lots, parks, and coastal roads. Isolated road closures are possible near the Great Highway and low spots around the Bay. Wet pavement and salt spray may reduce visibility during early travel hours.

Officials urge residents to stay off jetties, rocks, and piers. Never turn your back on the ocean. Drivers should allow extra time near coastal routes and avoid driving through standing water of unknown depth.

Conditions gradually improve as winds ease, but hazards linger into Monday morning. After that, calmer weather takes hold. Sunshine dominates midweek, and temperatures climb steadily into the upper 60s by Tuesday and Wednesday, offering a sharp contrast to the dangerous surf.

Looking ahead, no additional coastal advisories are expected after Monday if current trends hold. Still, meteorologists caution that February tides and swell patterns can change quickly.
