Sacramento, CA – Rainfall arriving late Sunday is expected to cause slick road conditions across the Northern Sacramento Valley through Monday morning.

According to the National Weather Service Sacramento office, light to moderate rain is forecasted from Sunday evening, April 6, through early Monday, April 7, with totals ranging from 0.1 to 0.5 inches. The heaviest precipitation is likely in the northernmost parts of the valley.

Drivers should prepare for reduced traction and slower commutes, particularly on rural and foothill roads. Valley and foothill regions will primarily see wet conditions, but elevations above 7,000 feet may experience snow.

Impacts are expected to remain minor, though NWS officials warn that even low rainfall amounts can lead to hydroplaning or traffic delays in areas with poor drainage.

Residents are encouraged to check local alerts and delay nonessential travel late Sunday into Monday morning. No major flooding or wind concerns have been issued, but officials will continue to monitor changing conditions.

This rain system follows a dry March, offering some short-term relief for regional reservoirs, but not enough to significantly alter drought metrics in Northern California.
