San Francisco, CA – A minor heat risk is in effect across the San Francisco Bay Area and Central Coast, lasting through Thursday, with temperatures rising in inland regions.

According to the National Weather Service Bay Area, the alert began Friday and includes both coastal and interior zones. The advisory particularly targets inland communities, where daytime warmth can become hazardous for sensitive populations lacking air conditioning or adequate hydration.

The warmest conditions are expected from late morning to early evening each day. While the heat is not classified as extreme, officials caution that even mild warmth can cause heat-related stress, especially for older adults, young children, and those without shelter or cooling access.

Residents are urged to stay hydrated, wear light-colored clothing, take breaks in shaded or air-conditioned areas, and avoid outdoor activity between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m.

This spring heat follows a cooler winter and marks an early signal of seasonal transitions in California’s climate pattern. While heat risks remain low overall, the NWS emphasizes caution as inland areas typically warm faster than the coast.
