San Francisco, CA –A warming trend across the Bay Area and Central Coast is setting in this week, accompanied by a minor heat risk and the potential for isolated thunderstorms by Wednesday evening.

According to the National Weather Service Bay Area, high temperatures are expected to climb into the mid-to-upper 70s for inland areas like King City, Livermore, and San Jose by Friday and Saturday. A minor risk of heat-related impacts is forecast Thursday through the weekend, especially for those without access to cooling or hydration.

There’s also up to a 20% chance of isolated thunderstorms across the Central Coast and Bay Area through Wednesday night. The greatest storm risk is expected Wednesday, with lightning, gusty winds, and small hail possible. Fire starts from lightning are also a concern in dry areas.

Residents are advised to hydrate early, wear light-colored clothing, and shift outdoor activity away from the late morning to early evening hours. Thunderstorm safety tips include heading indoors when thunder is heard—“when thunder roars, go indoors.”

Daytime highs will remain in the 70s for much of the Bay Area, with coastal cities like Half Moon Bay and Monterey staying cooler in the 60s. Temperatures are expected to stabilize early next week.
