San Francisco, CA – The National Weather Service has issued a Flood Watch for the San Francisco Bay Area, warning of potential flooding from Friday afternoon through Sunday evening due to excessive rainfall.

According to the NWS, 1 to 3 inches of rain is expected across the region, with localized totals reaching up to 5 inches in higher elevations. The affected areas include San Francisco, Marin, Sonoma, Napa, Contra Costa, Alameda, San Mateo, Santa Clara, and Santa Cruz counties.

Officials warn that excessive runoff could cause flooding in rivers, creeks, and urban areas with poor drainage. Low-lying and flood-prone locations are particularly at risk.

Residents are advised to stay updated on weather alerts and prepare for possible flood conditions. Authorities recommend securing outdoor items, avoiding travel through flooded roads, and having an emergency plan in place.
