San Francisco, CA – A powerful storm system is set to bring heavy rain, flooding, and dangerous winds to the Bay Area through Saturday, with officials urging residents to prepare for hazardous conditions.

According to the National Weather Service, a Flood Watch is in effect from Wednesday evening through Saturday for San Francisco, San Mateo, Santa Cruz, and Monterey counties. Excessive rainfall could cause street flooding, rising creek levels, and potential road closures. Strong winds up to 70 mph are also expected, increasing the risk of falling trees and power outages.

Rain will intensify Wednesday night, with heavy downpours lasting through Thursday morning. Thunderstorms are possible, bringing up to an inch of rain per hour in some areas. Winds will strengthen Thursday afternoon, with gusts up to 80 mph in coastal areas like Big Sur and Marin County.

By Friday, rain is expected to taper off, but standing water and wind damage could still impact roads, especially Highway 1 and Interstate 280. Travelers should check for delays and avoid flooded areas.

Valentine’s weekend will bring cooler temperatures and lingering showers, but conditions should improve by Saturday afternoon. Stay updated with the latest forecasts and prepare for possible disruptions.
