LOS ANGELES, Calif. – Drivers in East L.A. should prepare for reduced visibility and possible slick conditions Monday night as patchy fog thickens and thunderstorms move into the region. Travel on I-5, I-10, and U.S. 101 could become hazardous during the Monday evening and Tuesday morning commutes.

According to the National Weather Service, patchy fog will linger into late Monday, followed by a 20 to 30 percent chance of thunderstorms through Tuesday night. Forecasters warn that drivers should slow down in dense fog and avoid flooded lanes during passing storms. The chance for lightning also raises fire concerns in the drier foothills around Pasadena and Glendale.

Sunday offers some relief, with skies clearing and highs near 82 degrees. By Monday, calm conditions return during the day, but evening storms could develop quickly, especially across the San Gabriel Valley and central Los Angeles. A slight chance of storms remains Tuesday evening before skies clear by Wednesday.

Residents should charge devices, allow extra travel time, and keep headlights on in fog. Light showers could cause slick roadways, especially where oil buildup mixes with rain after long dry stretches.

Warnings may be extended if thunderstorms grow stronger or cover more of Southern California. Updates will follow from the National Weather Service through midweek.
