Hanford, CA – The National Weather Service in Hanford has issued a Dense Fog Advisory for much of the San Joaquin Valley, in effect through 1 p.m. Thanksgiving Day.
According to the advisory, visibility could drop as low as 800 feet in some areas, posing a high transportation risk along major routes, including Highways 99, 41, 43, 140, 152, 180, and 198. Motorists are urged to slow down, use low-beam headlights, and maintain extra distance between vehicles.
The NWS cautions that travel delays and dangerous conditions are possible through the morning and midday hours Thursday, particularly during peak Thanksgiving travel times.
“Drivers should plan for reduced visibility and allow extra time to reach their destinations,” forecasters said.
The fog is expected to gradually lift Thursday afternoon as temperatures rise, though patchy low clouds may linger through parts of the central valley into the evening.
