Fresno, CA — A warming trend will bring unseasonably high temperatures to Central California this week, with parts of the Central Valley expected to exceed 85°F by Friday.

According to the National Weather Service in Hanford, high pressure building over the West will drive temperatures up beginning midweek, following a brief cooldown on Monday. Afternoon highs could reach 15 degrees above normal from Fresno County southward between Wednesday and Friday.

Forecast models show a 40% to 60% probability of max temperatures hitting or exceeding 85°F in interior valleys. Heat risk will remain at minor levels for most of the region, with the peak impact expected Thursday, April 11.

While the risk level is categorized as minor, residents are urged to stay hydrated and avoid leaving vulnerable individuals or pets in vehicles. The heat may affect individuals sensitive to high temperatures, particularly without proper cooling or hydration.

Daytime heat combined with dry conditions may also impact agricultural and outdoor labor sectors. Authorities recommend checking on elderly neighbors and monitoring outdoor activity, especially during peak afternoon hours.

The warm-up is part of a broader Western U.S. pattern, with elevated heat forecasted across California, Nevada, and Arizona through the week.
