Hanford, California – Triple-digit-adjacent heat surged across the San Joaquin Valley this weekend, with Bakersfield hitting 95 degrees and setting a new benchmark for the earliest occurrence of that الحرارة level in March.

According to the National Weather Service in Hanford, a stretch of unusually strong high pressure drove temperatures into the 90s from March 17 through Sunday, breaking daily records across multiple cities. Bakersfield reached 95 degrees twice during the period, marking both a daily and monthly record and the highest March temperature ever observed in the region.

Fresno also climbed to 95 degrees by the end of the stretch, while Merced and Madera recorded highs near or above 90 degrees, rewriting daily records. Even typically cooler locations like Hanford pushed into the low 90s for several consecutive days.

This level of heat in March can strain early-season agriculture and increase fire risk as fuels dry out faster than normal. Residents are urged to stay hydrated, limit outdoor activity during peak afternoon heat, and check cooling systems early in the season.

While temperatures are expected to gradually ease early this week, additional above-average warmth could persist, and more records remain possible if the pattern holds.
