Los Angeles, CA – Drivers along Interstate 5 near Tejon Pass and Highway 14 in the Antelope Valley should prepare for hazardous crosswinds beginning at daybreak Monday as gusts reach 55 mph.

According to the National Weather Service in Los Angeles/Oxnard, a High Wind Warning is in effect from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday for the Interstate 5 Corridor, Cuyama Valley, San Luis Obispo County interior valleys and mountains, Santa Barbara County interior mountains, Southern Ventura County mountains and the Antelope Valley foothills. South winds will range from 25 to 35 mph, with peak gusts up to 55 mph in exposed passes and ridgelines.

Tejon Pass, Gorman, Pyramid Lake and areas near Acton and Pearblossom are likely to experience the strongest winds. Blowing dust and debris may reduce visibility at times, especially across open stretches of the Antelope Valley. High-profile vehicles, including tractor trailers and RVs, could struggle with sudden crosswinds.

Strong gusts may down tree limbs and power lines, leading to scattered outages. Residents are urged to secure outdoor furniture and remain indoors during peak winds.

Conditions will gradually ease after sunset Monday, but travel impacts are expected through the evening commute.
