Sacramento, California – A sweltering stretch of June heat is headed for Northern California, with cities like Redding, Chico, and Red Bluff showing a 90–100% chance of topping 90°F by midweek.

According to the National Weather Service in Sacramento, a warming trend begins Sunday and intensifies through Wednesday, June 19. Redding faces near-certainty of hitting the upper 90s Tuesday and Wednesday, while Sacramento and Modesto are likely to see mid-90s during the same period. Chico shows a 96% chance of hitting at least 90°F by Tuesday.

Valley residents can expect seasonably warm conditions this weekend, with heat risks growing daily. Breezy west-southwest winds may offer minor afternoon relief, but could also elevate fire danger in drier zones. Officials recommend limiting outdoor activity during peak heat, staying hydrated, and monitoring vulnerable groups.

The hottest days are projected to be Tuesday and Wednesday across interior counties including Butte, Shasta, and Tehama. This pattern mirrors early-season heat spikes seen in past Junes, often followed by elevated wildfire risk.

The NWS advises continued monitoring through Thursday, as temperatures could exceed initial projections in some areas.
