San Francisco, CA – Triple-digit-adjacent heat pushed parts of the Bay Area into record territory this week, with temperatures peaking at 94°F and forcing rapid adjustments for outdoor plans, travel, and energy use heading into Saturday evening.

According to the National Weather Service in San Francisco, at least a dozen stations from Santa Rosa to Salinas set new daily or monthly records between Monday and Friday, with Redwood City and Salinas Airport both reaching 94°F. Downtown San Francisco hit 90°F, tying one of its highest March readings, while Oakland Museum and Livermore also climbed into the upper 80s and low 90s.

The widespread heat impacted infrastructure and daily routines across Northern California. Increased AC demand strained local grids, while transit agencies reported heat-related delays on some rail lines. In San Jose, temperatures tied records twice during the week, and Napa and Richmond both saw highs near 88°F, well above seasonal averages.

Health officials urge residents to stay hydrated, limit outdoor activity during peak afternoon hours, and check on vulnerable populations. Coastal cooling offered little relief in some areas, with overnight lows remaining elevated.

Temperatures are expected to ease slightly by Sunday, but additional advisories could be issued if above-normal warmth lingers into early next week.
