Hanford, California – Triple-digit heat will slam into Hanford and the Central Valley on Monday, putting residents and travelers at risk for heat illnesses and dangerous road conditions through at least Tuesday evening. California’s Department of Transportation is urging all drivers—especially those using Highway 198—to prepare for blazing pavement and heat-related car troubles as a Heat Advisory remains in effect.

According to the National Weather Service in Hanford, high temperatures will soar to 104°F on Monday, July 14th, and stay above 100°F through Tuesday, July 15th at 11:00 p.m. PDT. The advisory covers Hanford, Lemoore, Corcoran, and the entire West Side Mountains region. With little relief at night and clear skies dominating the outlook, officials warn that the risk for heat exhaustion and heat stroke is high, especially for outdoor workers, children, and the elderly.

Hanford’s Monday will be sunny, with a northwest breeze barely providing relief as the temperature peaks above 100°F by early afternoon. Commuters along Highway 198 and nearby routes should watch for vehicle overheating, tire blowouts, and heat stress. Local cooling centers will be open, and all residents are encouraged to stay indoors during the hottest hours, drink plenty of water, and check on vulnerable neighbors.

The National Weather Service recommends limiting outdoor activities to early morning or late evening, wearing lightweight clothing, and never leaving children or pets inside parked vehicles. Power use will surge as air conditioners run overtime—consider charging essential devices and planning for possible brief outages.

Looking ahead, the five-day forecast keeps the Central Valley sizzling:

Monday [104°F]: Sunny, hot, breezy.
Tuesday [101°F]: Hot, clear, advisory in effect until 11:00 p.m.
Wednesday [96°F]: Still warm, slightly cooler, sunny skies.
Thursday [95°F]: Hot, continued sun, minimal wind.
Friday [100°F]: Heat builds back, mostly clear.

By week’s end, expect another spike near 100°F as summer heat refuses to let up. Stay alert for updated advisories if the heat persists or expands, and plan ahead for a hot weekend across Hanford and the San Joaquin Valley.
