Hanford, California – Sun-scorched days and breezy nights are locking in across the San Joaquin Valley as a prolonged stretch of dry heat builds beginning Sunday, July 20th. With temperatures climbing to 99°F by mid-afternoon, residents across Kings County, including Hanford and Lemoore, should limit outdoor activity and watch for heat-related fatigue — especially along exposed roadways like Highway 198.

According to the National Weather Service in Hanford, west-northwest winds between 5 and 10 mph will offer limited relief from the blistering sun. Temperatures will remain elevated through at least Friday, July 25th, with daytime highs hovering in the low-to-mid 90s and overnight lows staying in the mid-60s.

Those working outdoors or driving long stretches should hydrate frequently, avoid prolonged sun exposure, and carry extra water. Pavement and vehicle interiors can become dangerously hot within minutes.

Despite the heat, no excessive heat warning has been issued — but conditions remain ripe for heat illness, especially in poorly ventilated spaces. Children, pets, and older adults are especially vulnerable.

Looking Ahead:
While no major weather disruptions are forecast this week, high pressure will continue to dominate. Skies will remain mostly clear through July 25th, with highs between 91°F and 94°F daily and calm northwest winds persisting.
