Naperville, IL – A Naperville man accused of trafficking fentanyl between California and Illinois has been denied pre-trial release after DuPage County prosecutors alleged he received a shipment of roughly 1,000 fentanyl tablets through the mail.

According to the DuPage County State’s Attorney’s Office, Judge Anthony Coco granted the State’s motion to detain Ahmad Dinah, 30, of Naperville, who faces charges of controlled substance trafficking and unlawful possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver.

Investigators with the U.S. Postal Inspection Service reportedly intercepted a suspicious parcel at their Chicago facility on November 3, 2025, sent from Anaheim, California and addressed to Dinah’s Naperville apartment. Authorities allege the package contained approximately 1,000 tablets of fentanyl — each potentially lethal.

Detectives with the Naperville Police Department conducted a controlled delivery before executing a search warrant, where they allegedly found the tablets had been opened and repackaged into air-sealed bags. Dinah was taken into custody at the scene.

State’s Attorney Robert Berlin said removing that amount of fentanyl from circulation “saved countless lives,” while Naperville Police Chief Jason Arres credited federal and local cooperation for stopping a major flow of narcotics into the area.

Dinah’s next court appearance is scheduled for November 21, 2025, before Judge Joseph Bugos. Prosecutors emphasized that all charges are accusations, and Dinah is presumed innocent until proven guilty in court.
