Merced County, CA — A California Highway Patrol K9 officer seized 120,000 fentanyl-laced pills during a traffic stop on I-5 in Merced County. The pills, valued at $1.2 million, were found in a vehicle driven by two men from Washington, ages 25 and 23.
According to the California Highway Patrol, both men were arrested and now face multiple felony charges. The charges include possession of fentanyl for sale, transportation of fentanyl across non-contiguous counties, possession of fentanyl while armed, and possession of a concealed firearm within a vehicle. The men also allegedly had a loaded firearm with them at the time of their arrest.
The case has been handed over to the Merced Area Gang and Narcotics Enforcement Team (MAGNET) for further investigation. The seized drugs and weapons will be analyzed as part of the ongoing legal proceedings.
