Eureka, CA – A high surf advisory remains in effect for Northern California’s coast, bringing dangerous conditions to beaches near Eureka and Humboldt County. Waves as high as 24 feet are expected through Tuesday morning, increasing the risk of coastal flooding and beach erosion.
According to the National Weather Service, the advisory remains in effect until 10 a.m. Tuesday for Coastal Del Norte, Northern Humboldt, and Southwestern Humboldt counties. Officials warn that large waves will wash over jetties and rocks, creating hazardous conditions for beachgoers. Beachcombing is strongly discouraged, and mariners are urged to stay in port until conditions improve.
Looking ahead, Eureka can expect mostly sunny skies on Tuesday, with highs reaching 55°F. Patchy fog is likely Tuesday night, followed by a mild Wednesday with highs near 60°F. A slight chance of rain is forecast for Wednesday night and Thursday morning, with drier conditions returning by the weekend.
Residents and visitors are urged to avoid coastal areas and monitor local weather updates. For harbor and bar closures, contact the U.S. Coast Guard.
