Hanford, CA – Residents of Hanford and surrounding areas are urged to prepare for continued hot temperatures and potential air quality issues due to lingering wildfire smoke. The National Weather Service has reported that light winds on Wednesday and Thursday will struggle to disperse smoke from the Coffee Pot Fire in Tulare County. This smoke is expected to impact the region, particularly during the overnight hours.

According to the National Weather Service, residents should stay indoors with windows closed, keeping pets inside as well. For those using air conditioning, it’s recommended to keep the outdoor air intake closed and ensure filters are clean. The wildfire smoke could lead to eye irritation, lung discomfort, and worsening respiratory conditions, especially for vulnerable groups.

The forecast for the rest of the week shows a gradual decline in temperatures. On Thursday, the high is expected to reach 92°F, while Friday and Saturday will see cooler temperatures in the mid-80s. The weekend will bring clear skies and slightly cooler weather, with highs around 88°F on Sunday.

Despite the cooler trend, the return of high temperatures is anticipated by Monday, with the thermometer rising back to 97°F. Residents should continue to monitor air quality alerts and take necessary precautions when venturing outdoors.
