Eureka, California – After a brief dip in temperatures, hot and potentially dangerous weather is set to return to Northern California by Friday, with highs topping 100°F in areas like Ukiah and Lakeport and increased heat risk spreading across Humboldt, Mendocino, and Trinity counties.

According to the National Weather Service in Eureka, temperatures will stay slightly cooler Tuesday and Wednesday, but additional warming is expected late this week. By Friday, highs are forecast to reach 104°F in Ukiah, 100°F in Lakeport, and 101°F in Covelo, continuing through the weekend. The NWS warns that this surge brings a minor to moderate risk of heat-related impacts, especially for vulnerable groups and anyone working outdoors.

Local roads and neighborhoods in Ukiah, Weaverville, Trinity Center, and Garberville will feel the brunt of the heat. Residents are urged to drink extra water, avoid outdoor activity during peak afternoon hours, and check on neighbors and pets. If you rely on fans or air conditioning, make sure backup plans are in place for possible power outages.

The NWS notes that this is the first significant heat spell of July, similar to past early-summer surges in the region. Cooler temperatures could return by next week, but heat advisories may be extended if conditions persist.

Stay tuned for updates as heat warnings remain in effect through Sunday.
